Falling In Love With The Smokies

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

Growing up, my parents took me on hiking vacations around the United States. I vividly remember our trip to the Smoky Mountains, playing in rivers, and being amazed by the smoky haze that seemed to linger over the mountains. One day, I dreamed of owning a home that had mountain views for miles.

Grant's family also visited the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area when he was younger to experience the local attractions, shows, and theme parks. He too was amazed by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and always wanted to return as an adult.

Skip ahead 20+ years to Summer 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic. With three children of our own, we wanted to take a vacation where we could experience the natural beauty of the outdoors. Grant's family also joined us, so we booked an overnight vacation rental home about 20 minutes from local attractions and national park entrances. The time we spent as a family in nature was just what we all needed! The Smoky Mountain National Park offered trails, hikes, and rivers that adults and children (ages 3-14) could enjoy. Our week in the Smokies was perfection during a challenging year.

During our vacation, Grant and I fell in love with the Smoky Mountains all over again and knew we wanted to own a home of our own in the area that others could enjoy. We feel blessed to have found Smoky High House in May 2021!

With breathtaking views and comfortable amenities, Smoky High House has something for everyone. Guests can relax on one of our multiple porches, unwind in the hot tub, watch movies in the home theatre room, play a game of bag toss on the porch, and enjoy the company of family and friends. The location of Smoky High House also offers guests the ease of exploring the local attractions of Townsend/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, hike in the Smoky Mountains, play in Little River, drive scenic routes, eat at local restaurants, and shop at the markets and festivals.

We welcome you to stay at Smoky High House, and truly hope that a trip to the Smokies fills your heart with what you need!

"Climb the mountains and get their good things. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of autumn."

– John Muir
